Castle Voices at Around the Town Festival 2025

Castle Voices were absolutely delighted to take the stage yesterday afternoon as part of the week-long Around the Town festival celebrations in Carrickfergus. With the sun beaming down, we filled the square with music, laughter, and community spirit.

Our programme featured ten of our favourite pieces, from joyful openers to heartfelt ballads. From the uplifting Sing Out Your Joy to the moving Caledonia and the toe-tapping Beatles favourites, there was something for everyone.

A huge thank you goes to pianist Karl Bennett, who stepped in at the very last minute. We had just one rehearsal with him before the performance, yet his professionalism, musicianship, and fantastic playing made it seem like we’d been performing together for years.

Adding to the afternoon’s charm, Vanissa led a short, interactive singing workshop with the audience. We loved hearing voices from the crowd joining in! We hope this little taster inspired a few people to think about joining our choir next term—after all, singing is good for both body and mind.

And the good news is… you can hear this programme again! We’ll be performing the same set at the Music and Mind Festival in Whitehead, on Saturday 23rd August at 4pm in the Methodist Church.
